Who We Are

My name is Philippe Clairo. I’ve been working in the marketing industry for over 20 years, but photography has always been my passion. At age nine, I was already a member of my school’s photo club. Assignments were usually handled in black and white film that I had to bring to the school lab to develop. It ignited a flame in me about visual story-telling.

Fast-forward to Canada where I started my career in multimedia in Calgary, Alberta. I was fortunate enough to secure agency-work with a number of very talented designers, especially in digital media/marketing. That work really put a fine point on my video filming/editing skills, and the rest kind of fell into place. 

In 2006, I acquired my private pilot’s license – a lifelong dream. Becoming a pilot really ramped up my knowledge of aviation and airspace law, simultaneously stoking my interest in remote piloting. When I realized the creative potential of marrying aviation to cameras, my imagination really took off. 

Now, with eyeabove, I’m taking not only my imagination, but also my skills, experience and creativity to new heights, serving a diverse roster of clients both commercial and private across any number of projects, both big and small. A few of the more notable brands I’ve worked on include Nike, Rolex and Nissan.

These days, if I’m not on project work flying a drone among skyscrapers or desert boulders, you’ll find me booking a ticket to some far-flung place I’ve always dreamed of going, but have never been. Yes, I love to travel, especially if the destination affords me the opportunity to explore nature, as well as the myriad human-made shapes and patterns I so love to discover and document.
